The STEM Station at Danes Hill School

Outdoor learning, fun activities, pupil-lead designs and the Project Playhouse model has meant that our most recent Project was a huge success at Danes Hill School.

The school council agreed that they wanted a new outdoor classroom and play activities.

Chris & Dan gave an assembly to the whole school about STEM, and the children were then set a challenge to design the activities and games they wanted to see in their new space.

Marble runs, herb gardens, gaming tables, music walls, reading areas, magnetic walls and an art space were all incorporated in to this design. Go to the gallery or follow us on Instagram (@woodspaceuk) to see how this build developed.

Outdoor classroom at Hoe Bridge School

We worked in partnership with the staff and students of Hoe Bridge on their unique outdoor classroom / forest school space.

"Thank you so much - the children and staff love it already!"

Playhouses at Notting Hill Prep

We held an assembly and workshops at the school to get the kids excited about their new playground additions. A firm favourite are the connected playhouses painted in the school's colours.

"The new playground houses in NHP colours look fantastic and have already been a wonderful addition for our pupils to enjoy. A big thank you to @woodspaceuk for bringing them to life."

Multi-use space at Notting Hill Prep

This space is still a great play area but can now also be used for lessons, performing arts and assemblies.

Zip Wire at Danes Hill School

Zip wire at the main school site, signed off by play inspectorate to relevant European standards.

Playground equipment

This trim trail and swing set was built for a public space and signed off to relevant European safety standards. We often use Robinia wood which gives our equipment a really nice natural aesthetic.

We can design and install for schools.

STEM - What is it?

It stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Using the STEM approach allows us to teach children these four subjects using real-world, enjoyable and practical applications.

Project Playhouse will make links to STEM at every opportunity. The benefits of STEM education are endless.

Some of the proven benefits of this approach include:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Innovation
  • Problem Solving
  • Teamwork
  • Real life problems and creative solutions
  • Communication
  • Greater school and career prospects

Children are introduced to reading and sports at a young age. This fosters positive habits, interests and an eagerness to explore them further, so why not do the same for STEM subjects. Project Playhouse will encourage children to engage in the four subjects of STEM in a practical and fun way. Your children will play a big part in the design and build of something that they can be proud of. Please talk to us if you have any questions or ideas.
